Madeleine, La

Very colourful plywood jigsaw puzzle cut by Eric for the jigsaw library and estimated to be of c1970s-1980s manufacture. It features colour line-cutting at just about every opportunity, with combined styles of interlocking and push-fit pieces, coupled with a highly original division into four, almost triangular sections. These serve to provide a very large number of straight edge pieces, probably aimed at enhancing the challenge of this relatively small puzzle.

The painting is a bright and cheery depiction of Place de la Madeleine in Paris, by the British artist George Hann (1900-1979). Several other puzzles featuring this artist's work can be seen here
