F.J.G.'s Jig-Saw Picture Puzzles

My first experience of an F.J.G. branded puzzles shows characteristics of the better known British Zig-Zag puzzles of the c1910-1920's era. Cutting style similarities and choice of wooden backing material, but even more closely, that of the figure shaped pieces all lead me toward a belief that there must be a close connection between these two names.
