Jig Saw Puzzle Co.

The rather grandly named Jig Saw Puzzle Co. of 13, Swinderby Road, Wembley, Middlesex, are believed to have operated in the early part of the twentieth century, probably c1915-1920. The cutting style, box design and labelling of my first example, that of The Wayside Inn, show very close similarities to the puzzles of W.G. Evans, who in turn have probable links with the major British manufacturer Raphael Tuck & Sons, and it seems quite conceivable that they were actually the manufacturer of both the Evans branded and these Jig Saw Puzzle Co., wooden puzzles.
